Reiki Healing in Action: How My Client Released Hidden Grief
There’s a quiet magic that happens when we finally allow ourselves to feel what we’ve been holding onto for years.
Not just think about it or talk it through (although there’s real power in talk therapy), but to truly let it rise up from where it’s been living in the body. In those deep places where emotions settle like sediment at the bottom of a still lake.
I was deeply reminded of this during a recent Reiki session with a returning client. After our session, she shared something that gave me chills (the good kind — the ones that I always know are a confirmation from spirit saying, yes, she’s on to something).
She’d been working on mindset shifts and somatic work with another coach, and during an exercise to locate a lingering sense of feeling down or low, she immediately identified the energy as living in her sacral chakra. (Which had previously come up in our session but she hadn’t connected the dots just yet). She described it as heavy and black. When she sat with it a bit longer, an old wound emerged: a miscarriage she experienced when she was 24.
She has two beautiful children now, and it wasn’t that she hadn’t grieved that loss. But it was clear that the pain had tucked itself away into her energy body, in her sacral center, and had been quietly asking for acknowledgment. She was ready to heal.
And here’s where the magic happened and why I LOVE what energy work does…
After recognizing and releasing some of that stored grief with reiki, she started to notice a shift almost immediately. New opportunities began flowing in:
✨ A chance to teach a course she just completed
✨ More work from a client she enjoys
✨ The opportunity for solo trip with her husband
✨ A seat at the table with a local chamber group
Do you see the connection?
When we tend to what’s weighing us down, we free up space for what wants to lift us up.
How Emotional Energy Gets Stored in the Body
In Reiki and energy healing, we work with the chakra system — energetic centers that correspond to different aspects of our physical, emotional, and spiritual well-being. The sacral chakra in particular (located just below the navel) governs our emotions, sensuality, creativity, relationships, and connection to the divine feminine. It’s also where we hold memories of grief, loss, and emotional trauma. The hips don’t lie.
When we’ve experienced something like a miscarriage, sexual trauma or shame, or supressed big feelings, that energy doesn’t just disappear if we don’t fully process it. It can settle in, creating feelings of numbness, stagnation, or even depression that seem to linger without a clear reason.
But when we give those feelings a safe space to rise — through healing work, journaling, movement, or mindful attention — we begin to move that energy out of the body. We create space. And energy loves (and needs) space to move.
Healing as an Invitation, Not a Fix
Here’s the thing I want you to know: healing does not mean forgetting. And it doesn’t mean “getting over it.” It means honoring your experience, listening to what your body has been trying to say, and giving yourself permission to let go of what no longer needs to be carried.
That space you create is where where new possibilities show up! Not because you're trying to manifest something, but because you're no longer energetically blocked from receiving what’s been trying to find you.
You Deserve to Feel Light Again
If you’ve been feeling heavy, stuck, or like something is quietly tugging at your energy — there may be an old story or emotion ready to be released.
You don’t have to do it all at once. And you don’t have to do it alone.
This is the beauty of energy healing. It meets you right where you are and allows you to remember your wholeness before the wounds.
If you're ready to create space for your next chapter, I’d be honored to support you.
With so much love,
Lisa
